Help Charlotte Get An Essential Mobility Device
Hello, my name is Charlotte, and I’m a 27-year-old disabled woman living in Glasgow, Scotland, and I'm currently almost entirely housebound. I am diagnosed with fibromyalgia and hyper mobile Ehlers Danlos syndrome as well as mental illnesses mainly stemming from trauma, and other currently undiagnosed physical symptoms. My disabilities cause chronic pain in my muscles and joints, chronic fatigue, stiffness, dizzy spells, digestive issues, sleep issues, cognitive problems and loose joints amongst other daily issues.
I was diagnosed with my known conditions in January 2019 and my condition worsened over the next couple of years. Currently, I leave the house only a handful of times a year, and I cannot do so alone. I rely on having someone to push me in a manual wheelchair and expensive taxi fares if I need to go out. Living alone, I’ve become extremely isolated and have lost the independence I previously valued so much.
If I had a powerchair I could operate myself, I’d be able to leave the house for important reasons that others take for granted; even just posting a letter or going to the shops. Being housebound also means it’s extremely difficult to procure my medications, and impossible to start the process of getting help with my diagnosed and undiagnosed symptoms (I currently receive no professional care beyond a repeat prescription for anti-depressants). Ideally I'd love to be able to go on day trips, and have the opportunity to live life more like the average person in their twenties; enjoying life and the outside world.
Reaching this goal by 2022 would mean the world to me, and any help you can give would be infinitely appreciated. <3
