We’re raising money for my dear friend Charlotte and her family. Charlotte is a single mom with kidney failure. She works very hard to provide for her two children, Malcolm and Etiene. Malcolm is an honors student studying engineering at Virginia Tech and Etiene is ten years old in the fifth grade. Charlotte has a PHD in Public Policy and Political Science from Walden University as well as a Masters and Bachelors from the University of Denver. She currently works as a substitute teacher. She also works several other jobs, including cleaning, and tutoring.
In today’s economy, Charlotte has been unsuccessful in finding a job in her field. Instead, she continues to work multiple jobs, while paying over $500 a month for health insurance because the state of Virginia has cut Medicaid and most social programs. With her single income she makes $1900 monthly, while her rent for her two bedroom apartment is $2261.48 monthly. She only qualifies for $100 p/month in SNAP. The past few months she has fallen behind on rent and two days ago she received notification that the sheriffs will evict her and lock her out of her apartment and put her belongings on the sidewalk on July 8, 2025 if she does not pay $7,325.94 (May, June, and July rent plus fees).
We need a miracle. And we need it BEFORE July 8th!
Charlotte has a few job and career prospects in the works for speaking engagements next month, and I’ve paid for her to take her teaching certification test later this month (the fee amount was holding her back). We all have been helping as much as we can-all of Charlotte’s friends and family. But as you all know times are challenging for us all financially.
I’ve known Charlotte twenty years now. We went to college together at the University of Denver. She came over to the United States from Gabon Africa so determined and so full of love. She is now a full citizen of the United States. Charlotte is one of the strongest people I know. She left her home country and all she knew and made a beautiful life for herself here and made our country her own.
She has always worked hard and put God first. She fears God and she adopted Etiene when she was a baby so that Etiene could have a better life, with her, in a loving home. Charlotte never gives up. Her only prayer is that what she goes through will help to inspire others to persevere and to have faith in God as she always has.
I love her as more than a friend-she is my sister.
Please donate what you can. Whatever amount you can give is appreciated and no amount is too little.
Thank you for reading.
God Bless You and Yours!
