Help Charlotte Achieve Her Dreams in the ACT
I'd like to start out by introducing myself. My name is Catherine Nugent and I am the mother of an exceptionally talented young woman by the name of Charlotte Waring. I am seeking financial support for Charlotte's education in the form of donations, sponsorship, scholarship or grants so that she may successfully achieve her chosen career as a cricket professional, whether that be on or off the field pursuing studies in either Physiotherapy or Physical Activity and Sport Science.
Charlotte comes from a disadvantaged background, she has struggled to overcome her own personal health issues yet has achieved a name for herself in the School Community, Broader School Community, School Sporting Community/Competition, Cricket Community and her workplace.
Charlotte has strived to do her best in life always with a cheery disposition and Charlotte takes every opportunity offered to her. Participating in a number of school-based volunteer programs, giving back to her community. A recipient of her current High Schools Shannon's Award in 2020 awarded by peers to a student who has been an inspiration to others and who has shown remarkable courage, compassion, and kindness, Also a one-time Award that was created in her honour by NSW Combined High Schools Sports Association recognising her individual contribution to the State Cricket Carnival "The Spirit Award". Charlotte also is Certified as a Community Cricket Coach, having worked with Primary School Students and Acting as Assistant Coach to the Greater Illawarra U19's team at the Female Country Championships January 2020/2021 Season. In saying this she is incredibly humble and modest of her achievements to date.
As a parent you hope to fulfil your child's dreams and goals, unfortunately due to my numerous personal health issues and financial situation being on the Disability Support Pension and an NDIS recipient, I am in a position where I can't do that by myself. Recently I was diagnosed with additional Neurological issues which ruled out weekend travel, so we started looking into boarding schools and associated scholarships only to have found it was far too late to submit scholarship and bursary applications.
Through her talent, passion and personality Charlotte has managed to create an opportunity for herself in Canberra that is too good to pass up. She has done this with full support, backing and costs covered by the Cricket Community of both N.S.W and the A.C.T. This opportunity is to play in the new reconstructed 1st Grade Division. Inclusive of the A.C.T. Meteors players being distributed between the four teams when available around their Women’s National Cricket and T20 Big Bash League. After the announcement (13th of August) and subsequent invitation to play, we researched every option to make her dreams and goals a reality. Having been accepted to Canberra Girls Grammar School, a school that is the most appropriate for her needs and will fully support her career, we see it as being in Charlotte's best interest's going into year 11 and 12 to pursue both her career and education in Canberra.
As it is a Canberra Education with a N.S.W. residence and a Private School rather than a Public school, Charlotte doesn't meet the criteria of all government assistance schemes I have searched. Scholarships are applied for between 2-5 yrs prior, there was no way we could predict this opportunity in time to make appropriate applications.
Charlotte has an extensive sporting repertoire in addition to an applaudable amount of support from both her school and sport community to pursue this opportunity. Charlotte is already a participant in the Smith Family Learning For Life Programme and a Registered Young Carer where she will be offered additional learning support and future opportunities.
On a Personnel Level Charlotte lives life to the fullest with an incredibly cheery disposition whilst always living on a razor's edge as I am considered a "ticking time bomb" with my health issues. In moving forward to achieve her personal goals her one and only concern is her sense of responsibility and concerns for her family.
Charlotte needs all the love, recognition, support that people can give, it takes a village. She would be the first person to help anyone regardless of their position in life to achieve their goals, she is a cheer squad of one for others and is deserving of a cheer squad of her own. In fact I think she has more than earned it!
Although we will continue to pursue alternative educational funding right now an example of the fees for 1 term is Tuition $6005 Boarding $7186.25 This is a lot but she will have everything she could possibly need any contribution no matter how big or small will help in Charlotte achieving her goals!
