>>DOING ART AS A THANK YOU!<<
I plan to do art pieces to thank anybody who donates! If you’d like to request a drawing theme or idea as a thank-you, please leave a comment or message me. I'm not sure I will be able to get to everybody but I'll do my best.
I’m happy to make cute or silly art for your life changing help. Anything goes!

Hi everyone. My name is Charlie.
I was really hoping I could do this on my own but I’m now reaching out for some help.

Ever since I was 18 I’ve been struggling with treating various health issues I developed because of stress, severe illness, injuries, and deficiencies as a result of the mistreatment and neglect I faced in childhood.
I’m 22 now and while I’ve had some treatment for my issues, I still need much more to become stable and able to live day-to-day without intense pain and mobility issues.

In early 2022, after countless tests, I was diagnosed with a deformity in my spine, chronic bursitis in both sides of my hips, full body psoriasis, TMJ dysfunction, kidney stones, and fibromyalgia. Along with this, I have been struggling with PCOS since I was 12 years old.
All of this combined leave me in pain, fatigued, and on many days struggling to walk for more than a minute at a time without relying on a mobility aid or rest. This makes it intensely difficult to care for myself, especially as I have nobody to rely on at the moment to help.
In fact, I am hoping to be able to dampen at least some of my symptoms in the next year so I can help care more for the grandparents I live with who are dealing with their own health issues.

More recently, my specialists and doctor have been suspecting that I may have even more issues on top of everything else. Mostly what they are worried about is permanent and severe nerve damage in my spine, leg, and chest, as well as a hidden autoimmune disorder that may have been something of a root for all of these problems in the first place.

However, with the rising cost of living, no financial support from family, and needing to see a physiotherapist and psychologist biweekly/weekly, my wallet has run dry enough for me to start prioritizing my medical visits over food, hygiene, and other vital expenses. Or, sometimes, vice versa.
I don’t want to live like this forever and I am hoping to at the very least make it to mid next year and be free of debilitating pain, maybe be able to work more frequently, and just be as independent as possible.

In the next few months I am supposed to see:
  • A rheumatologist (for my spine, chronic bursitis, tmj dysfunction, fibromyalgia, and potential autoimmune disorder)
  • A neurologist (for my potential nerve damage)
  • A dermatologist (for my full body psoriasis)
  • A dentist (for my tmj dysfunction)
  • A urologist (for my kidney stones)
  • A psychiatrist (to discuss my seizure due to the SNRI duloxetine which was prescribed in hopes of lessening stress and therefore pain)
  • And (hopefully but not required, I can make do) a dietitian (for my PCOS)

I will need multiple appointments (at least 2) with all of them except for the psychiatrist and the dentist as I will likely require both an initial appointment and a follow up appointment to make sure treatment is working as intended.

Along with these specialist appointments, I need help continuing to pay for my medication and current schedule of appointments with my psychologist who helps me with stress and pain management, and my physiotherapist who helps me with pain treatments and custom training. Even with my current schedule however, my physiotherapist has expressed on multiple occasions that going only twice a month is not likely to be effective for my condition. But it is all I can afford.

Some of these appointments with specialists may lead to me needing surgery and while I have the cheapest health insurance I can find, I likely will be in debt for much of the rest. I have spoken with my doctor about these potential surgeries and I will list the conditions that have a high potential of needing them here:
  • TMJ Dysfunction (either Arthrocentesis or Arthrotomy are likely as treatments have only been very minorly effective so far)
  • Kidney Stones (minimally invasive but likely because of the size of my stones)
  • Nerve Damage (Finding nerve damage seems likely according to my doctor and specialist, but we don’t know the extent or severity of it so surgery may be on the table later on)

The cost of everything is:

  • Only currently necessary: $6,615 – covers upcoming appointments and medications.

  • Currently necessary + likely surgeries: $7,315 – includes the above plus surgeries that are likely to happen.

  • Ideal scenario: $9,027 – covers everything above, including dietitian, and more maintenance health appointments as recommended (physiotherapy + psychologist).

(I am happy to provide the full breakdown if people want to know)

I am putting the goal at ideal in hopes I may be able to luck things out but if I only get the currently necessary things I will be forever changed. So please, please consider donating.

It’s hard for me to write all of this down and be as I am. The pain and lack of complete freedom in my own body is difficult. I am the kind of person who wants to help others and I am not in the habit of asking for help. But anything that brings me closer to being a little bit more on my feet will go a huge way.

Thank you for reading all this.

Love, Charlie

P.S. If I don’t use all of this money, such as if a surgery/appointment is not as expensive as I was told or if I didn’t end up requiring one, I will update and ask what you all would like me to do with the money. I would be happy to continue using it for remaining and ongoing treatments for my chronic conditions, donate it forward to another person here, or donate it to the conservation and shelter causes I have volunteered with for years.
