Help Charlie “The Blue Eyed Berner” beat cancer, for Kailey!

Dear friends and family,

At the beginning of October, we learned that Charlie, Kailey's service dog and best friend, had developed a very large subcutaneous tumor on his left hind limb that had extended into the pelvic canal. Due to the rapid growth and size of the cancerous soft tissue sarcoma, there was not a good prognosis, and the vet warned us to start cherishing each day we have left with him. Our daughter, Kailey, was devastated, as this is her service dog that has been by her side throughout her most challenging life events and her high anxiety. We were ALL shocked by this vet's diagnosis, and of course, Kailey could not accept this news. She started researching and found Dr. Acosta at Washington State University Teaching Hospital for a second opinion. The news we received from WSU Veterinary Hospital was very positive, reassuring us that due to Charlies young age, Charlie would be able to live his full life expectancy with a surgical debulking of the mass, followed by 18 fractions (days) of radiation therapy. The only thing in the way between Charlie and being cancer-free is the cost of the treatment required. Kailey does have pet insurance for Charlie, but this treatment is NOT covered. Unfortunately, we cannot cover it on our own. This is where we need your support. This puppy is EVERYTHING to our daughter! Those of you who have met Charlie know that he is a ONE OF A KIND SPECIAL boy, he is beyond loved by many, including many of the kids Kailey has babysat for.
