Help Charlie Overcome Her Medical Challenges

Charlie is a beautiful little miracle baby — deeply loved, fiercely strong, and full of light. Since the day she was born, she has faced one challenge after another, and now she is beginning the biggest fight of her young life. Her family needs support, love, and help as they navigate this heartbreaking journey.
For months, Charlie’s parents voiced their concerns to multiple pediatricians, explaining that something did not look right with her skull. Their worries were repeatedly dismissed… until finally they were referred to CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) for answers.
At CHOP, a neurosurgeon immediately shared concerns and ordered an urgent CT scan. The very next day, the hospital called and asked the family to return immediately because the results were serious.
When they arrived, Charlie had to meet with a team of specialists — including a neurosurgeon, craniofacial plastic surgeon, geneticist, and neuro-ophthalmologist. After hours of evaluations, her parents received the devastating news they feared most.
Charlie has a rare skull condition where three of the six major sutures in her skull fused prematurely, known as Mercedes-Benz Syndrome. This is causing dangerous pressure on her brain and fluid buildup. On top of that, she has also been diagnosed with Chiari 1 Malformation, meaning the lower part of her brain (the cerebellum) is sitting too low and interfering with the flow of cerebrospinal fluid.
The following day, her medical team reviewed her case again and delivered even more difficult news:
Her surgery cannot wait.
To prevent permanent brain damage, Charlie must undergo major reconstructive surgery in the coming weeks.
She will need a Cranial Distractor Vault Surgery, which includes:
    •    An incision from ear to ear
    •    Cutting and repositioning portions of her skull
    •    Implanting distractors with long screws that protrude through the skin
    •    Twice-daily turning of those screws by her parents to slowly reshape her skull
    •    A blood transfusion
    •    A stay in the ICU followed by 4–5 days in the hospital
Even after she returns home, Charlie will need multiple appointments every week at CHOP for monitoring, imaging, and neuropsychological testing.
Then, two months later, she will undergo a second surgery to remove the distractors and possibly make additional corrections. At that point, doctors will reassess whether the Chiari 1 Malformation has improved.
If it has not, she will require a third surgery, this one involving her skull and brain.

This is an incredibly difficult time for Charlie and her family. The upcoming surgeries, hospital stays, and frequent appointments will place a heavy financial and emotional strain on her parents.
Any donation or share is deeply appreciated and will help ease the burden so they can focus on what matters most — getting Charlie the care she needs.
Thank you for supporting this sweet little girl and her family.
