Help Charlie Overcome FIC and Kidney Injury

Donation protected
Hello! We are Heather and Mark. Charlie is our two-year-old cat we rescued from a busy parking lot. He has proven himself to be the sweetest little boy. On March 25, 2025, we rushed him to Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech where they found a urethral obstruction. He was diagnosed with FIC, Feline Idiopathic Cystitis, with acute kidney injury. He had multiple tests, x-rays, radiographs, a urinary catheter, and was given fluids. His potassium and kidney levels were very high.

Fortunately, the doctors were able to clear the blockage, but many cats with this condition have recurring blockages. This can happen days or even months later and may require a perineal urethrostomy (PU surgery).

Charlie spent three days and nights in the hospital. We brought him home where we are closely monitoring him. He has another vet appointment this week and possibly another hospitalization.

We regret needing to raise funds but Charlie’s bill has been over $2500 so far. We also just had over $1700 in vet bills for our cat Calibre, who we sadly lost two months ago. Some of you may know Mark became a paraplegic in August, which has generated many bills and ongoing expenses. The past year has been quite a strain.

If you can kindly help, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your consideration.
