Charlie is not just our dog—he is family.

A few days ago, Charlie was attacked by coyotes. What should have been a normal day turned into a traumatic and serious situation very quickly.

He suffered extensive wounds and deep tissue damage, and while some of the injury was visible right away, much of it developed over time. As a result, he required emergency veterinary care and hospitalization to treat infection, manage pain, and begin the long process of recovery.

So far, we have already spent $2,800 on his first hospitalization.

Unfortunately, his injuries are complex. As part of the healing process, areas of damaged tissue are continuing to break down and drain, which is something our vet prepared us for—but it means Charlie will likely need additional procedures and continued care, and we are expecting another bill similar in size.

The hardest part is that despite how serious this looks, Charlie is still fighting.

He is eating, drinking, getting up, and showing us he’s not ready to give up. As long as he keeps fighting, we will continue to fight for him.

We are small business owners, and while we work hard and do everything we can to take care of our responsibilities, we are not in a position to easily absorb multiple large, unexpected veterinary bills back-to-back.

Asking for help is not easy for us. We would go into debt before giving up on him—but we’re hoping to avoid that if possible.
