On February 15, 2026, our family’s life changed in an instant when my son Charlie was involved in a burn accident and suffered burns on 30% of his body, including his face, neck, and upper torso. He was hospitalized for a month at Parkland Healthcare and is now continuing his recovery through physical and occupational therapy. We are working every day to help him regain his mobility and heal, with the hope that he can live as normal a life as possible.
Charlie is in first grade and is one of the sweetest and bravest kids you could ever meet. He loves to jump on his trampoline and enjoys being the silliest goose around, always trying to make people laugh. Even after everything he has been through, he is still attending school while going to therapy and continues to make people smile everywhere he goes. The nurses and staff at Parkland Healthcare quickly fell in love with his personality and his bravery.
This accident has been traumatic for our entire family. I had to put everything on hold to be with Charlie at the hospital Monday through Friday. On weekends, I drove from Dallas to Waco to spend time with my other three children, doing my best to keep our family together and strong during this incredibly difficult time.
We are asking for help to cover the overwhelming medical expenses from Charlie’s hospital stay and to help with his ongoing rehabilitation, therapies, and future medical needs. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help Charlie continue his healing journey and will help ease the financial burden on our family so we can focus on helping him recover. Thank you for taking the time to read Charlie’s story. Your prayers, support, and shares mean more to us than we can ever express.
