Remembering Charlie

On May 9th, 2022 our beautiful, goofy, lovable, brilliant redhead Charlie went to the emergency room with unbearable pain in her jaw thinking she had TMJ or possibly dental issues. After an MRI to find the cause of the pain, we were all devastated to learn that she has a large tumor that has grown into her jaw bone and muscle, and she was diagnosed with stage 3 Rhabdomyosarcoma, an extremely rare type of cancer, and as of now the tumor is inoperable.
Charlie just turned 12 years old in May 6th and was looking forward to a fun summer spent with friends and family. Instead she will now have to undergo a rigorous 42 week chemo and radiation treatment plan to try to fight this cancer. This battle will NOT be easy but her positive attitude and willingness to fight has brought us hope. Our family has been through a previous devastating cancer battle so we are unfortunately no strangers to the difficulties of this process and the physical and emotional toll this will have on all of us but mostly Charlie.
While her health insurance will cover(ed) a portion of her medical bills, there is still a significant amount of money needed for her treatment, other medical expenses, transportation, and her personal life. Her mother Katy will be on Family Leave, then partial leave and not receiving her full salary, while Charlie receives chemotherapy treatments every week for 42 weeks. All donations will go directly to the family to ensure their bills and expenses are taken care of so they can all focus Charlie and her recovery.
