Hello! My name is Charlie Gutierrez and I am currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas. Outside of academics, I enjoy sports—especially basketball—as well as spending time with my family, being outdoors, and building meaningful relationships. Above all, my faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of my life.

Although I was raised in the church, it was not until later that I truly understood what it meant to have a personal relationship with Him. Through both challenges and growth, I came to recognize the depth of His love and the importance of putting Him first. Shortly before my 18th birthday, I made the decision to recommit my life through baptism. Since then, I have experienced His love, joy, and peace in ways I never had before—even in difficult seasons. Because of this, I feel called to reach others who may have once been where I was: knowing of Him, but not yet fully knowing Him.

A key part of my growth has been finding strong, faith-centered community. At UNT, I have been blessed to be involved with the Fellowship of Christian University Students (FOCUS), an organization dedicated to building Christ-centered, intellectually engaging, and outreach-driven communities on college campuses. Through FOCUS, I have the opportunity to attend the Student Institute of Campus Ministry (SICM), a 10-day leadership training program held in Washington State. This experience equips students to lead small groups, disciple their peers, and confidently share the Gospel, while also deepening their own faith alongside students from across the region.

Attending SICM will not only strengthen my personal walk with Christ, but also equip me with the tools and training needed to effectively serve and lead others. My goal is to use what I learn to impact students on campus—especially those searching for the same truth, purpose, and relationship that transformed my life.
