Hello! My name is Charlie Adams.
A couple of months ago, I didn’t realize I was about to embark on the very rough journey of cancer. I had noticed some pain I was having but thought it was simply a pulled muscle from work and it would go away. However, the pain persisted for about a month. Then, one day, I noticed some swelling in my lower region. Knowing this wasn’t normal, I called my doctor. He seemed a little concerned and did some bloodwork, and the results came back showing some levels were extremely high (which usually means testicular cancer). I was scheduled for a CT scan and ultrasound the next day. These tests confirmed their thoughts, and I was set up with a urologist. The urologist talked to me about the findings and said that our next step was surgery. So, the following week, I was in the hospital having the right testicle removed.
My latest visit was with my oncologist, who told me that our next step to make sure we get everything as clear as possible, is to begin some chemotherapy and then follow up with scans and bloodwork every so often to make sure levels are staying down and all things look to be normal again. I have been recovering since the surgery and trying to keep as active as I can, without hurting myself. I have a great job as a furniture delivery driver and coworkers that are super supportive of me through all of this!
However, the bills continue to mount up, faster than the funds can come in, and it’s not easy at all going through this. I’m not usually the one to ask for help, but this has been extremely difficult going through this, and I’m sure there’s only more to come. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I hope you have a wonderful day!
