I have been fighting a rare disease alone for the last three and a half years. I attempted suicide a few times because the situation is devastating. I don't have any family in the US. My parents’ visa got denied and I'm too sick to get on an international flight. My siblings passed away from the same genetic mutation.
In mid-November of 2022, I moved from Oregon to California to get better medical care. I'm currently on TPN(100% IV nutrition) through a tunneled line. I have a pacemaker implanted to pace the heart. I live in an 8 out of 10 pain daily due to my condition.
My confirmed diagnoses are Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Gastroparesis, intestinal dysmotility, Sick sinus node syndrome, etc. Stanford Neuroscience and UCLA Health currently manage my health. Stanford University Hospital is the only hospital (on the west coast) that has a neuroscience center for my rare condition.
My neurologist at Stanford is trying to get IVIG approved because it's the only treatment that may work. With IVIG, I have about a 30% chance of improving my quality of life. However, the chance of getting IVIG approved is slim. If it gets denied, each treatment costs $10k+, and I need at least 12 treatments.
The cost of living in CA is extremely high. I’m working two jobs to pay for rent, medical insurance, and car insurance but it's not enough.
I'm the only child and I can't die right now and leave my parents alone.
I have a background in Finance and Data Analysis. I'm hard-working and would like to work for any company that accepts me. I'm bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese. I scored 163 on LSAT and had a full-ride scholarship for a JD program. I can be a great addition to your team.
