We are here to help Charles Viggiano resume normal life activities, including walking. Charles has two beautiful boys who need their dad happy and healthy. Charles is a graduate of Plantation High School and Florida State University. He currently is a professor at the University of Central Florida. Tough times have been presented to Charles but he is strong and will defeat this challenge. The following is the story as written by Charles:
"I developed an autoimmune condition from a chemical reaction to an antibiotic I took. My body is now breaking down at the cellular/DNA level and has left me disabled. My whole body is breaking apart at the connective tissues. It's very painful and the treatments for it are expensive, some not covered by insurance and I'm not able to work. Treatment is necessary to manage pain, if I ever want to walk again, and could possibly save my life."
This most recent challenge came about after a reaction to an antibiotic called Cipro. The most recent episode was a continuation from 5 months ago and has left Charles needing to fight even harder to maintain any normalcy in his life, including even the most basic thing such as walking. At the time of the first reaction 5 months ago Charles was very healthy, in great shape for his age, played tennis, lifted weights, ran on the beach, and weighed a healthy 185lbs. Since then Charles has developed chest pains, gastrointestinal issues, breathing problems, tendon and joint deterioration in his Achilles, knees, and hips, extreme fatigue, and food sensitivities. As mentioned above the effects have taken a turn for the worse.
