"Empowering Excellence: Help Charles Swink, a Resilient Educator, Acquire a Vital Wheelchair"

In the quiet town of New Albany, Indiana, Charles Swink has been an integral part of the educational landscape since 1995. With a passion for both teaching and sports, Charles dedicated 29 years of his life to shaping young minds and fostering a love for physical activity.

Charles served as a basketball and football coach at Hazelwood Middle School in New Albany, leaving an indelible mark on the students he mentored. His commitment extended to Gamblod Middle School PS 108, where he not only coached basketball and football but also took on the role of a track coach, instilling discipline and teamwork in the hearts of aspiring athletes.

The sporting arena witnessed Charles's prowess as he took on the role of a basketball coach at Shortridge High School, showcasing his ability to inspire and lead his team to victory. His coaching journey continued on the soccer field, where Charles secured two championships, leaving an enduring legacy of success.

However, life took an unexpected turn when, at the age of 29, Charles Swink was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). This chronic disease of the central nervous system brought challenges that tested his resilience and determination. MS, an autoimmune disorder, proved to be unpredictable, affecting individuals in various ways.

Despite the hurdles, Charles faced his diagnosis with courage. Paralyzed for three months initially, he navigated through over 20 hospitalizations and endured four MS attacks. His strength of character and unwavering spirit became a beacon of inspiration for those around him.

Charles found solace in his family, being happily married with four children who became his pillars of support. The love and encouragement from his family became essential in his journey of coping with MS.

In 2018, Charles Swink continued his commitment to education, joining Arsenal Technical High School. Despite the challenges posed by his health, he embraced a new role as the library director, showcasing his adaptability and passion for learning.

Now, Charles relies on a special wheelchair designed for a working man with a handicap. While facing the financial burden of a $14,000 bill, Charles's insurance company is providing support by covering $11,300 of the expenses. Despite the challenges, Charles Swink continues to persevere, teaching not only academic lessons but also life lessons of resilience, courage, and the power of a positive spirit.
