Help Charles Seagle's Family Avoid Eviction
Donation protected
My name is Charles Seagle and I’m the father of three beautiful children and husband to my wife of 20+ years. My wife is disabled and lives on a fixed income. After arguing with my doctor for years, she finally convinced me to seek my disability as well. So we’ve been truly scraping by by the skin of our teeth. Our rent has been mostly covered by HUD for the last 7 years. In the last couple of years, HUD has repeatedly requested that the landlord replace or fix the deck on the front of our house. Seems as if our repairs are not his priority. Because he didn’t fix it in time, HUD has halted our benefits and is threatening to stop the program altogether if something isn’t done like yesterday.
In the last three months, we’ve had to completely replace our bathroom floor, replace the refrigerator, and deal with a stove with a busted oven. All out of our pocket. But because HUD didn’t pay last month or this month, we’re $1700 behind on the rent. I spoke with our landlord and was under the impression that he was willing to work with us and even try to do something about the deck. Today, we were served with an eviction notice because of back rent. With the hurricane, cold weather, broken down car, and let’s not forget that Christmas is fast approaching, we will be completely homeless and will lose everything that we own if we are forced to leave here. It’s not the greatest house, but it’s HOME to us. So if you or anyone you know wants to help, we would forever be grateful. I had prayed that I would never be forced into having to beg for help ever again. But my family’s life, safety, and security are far more important than letting pride stop me from asking for help. If you’re unable to spare anything financially, we understand and ask that you share this with as many shares you can. Thanks to everyone either way. Hope you’re all safe, warm, and healthy.
