Help Charles Recover After the UPS Plane Crash
Summary:
A man who has given so much to others now needs our support. Charles acted heroically during the UPS plane crash, saving lives with his own truck, and now he’s facing the aftermath — lost work, a damaged vehicle, and the emotional toll of what he witnessed. Let’s help a man who’s always been there for others get back on his feet.
Story:
On what started as an ordinary workday, life changed in an instant for Charles. He was working as a loader operator for Grade A Auto Parts when the UPS plane struck the auto yard — a tragedy that left behind devastation, fear, and heartbreak.
Charles wasn’t physically injured, but the emotional toll of what he experienced will stay with him forever. In the chaos, he didn’t hesitate — he jumped into action to help others escape, using his own truck to get people out of danger. In the process, he damaged his vehicle while plowing through a car and a steel gate to clear a path to safety.
Now, the auto yard where Charles worked is heavily damaged, leaving him without employment. To make matters worse, he had only recently returned to work after recovering from an injury and had just spent his savings fixing his truck’s transmission — the same truck he used to save lives that day.
As of the time of this writing, Charles is still awaiting news about coworkers who remain unaccounted for and grieving the passing of others. On top of this, he carries the weight of emotional trauma from what he witnessed, while trying to find new employment and stay financially afloat. The stress and uncertainty are immense, yet he faces it with the same courage and selflessness he has always shown.
Charles is the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, even if it was the last one he owned. I’ve known him since before the pandemic, and countless times, he has been my emotional sounding board, helping me navigate personal challenges and traumas. He was always ready to talk, offer advice, or lend a hand whenever needed. Even when we lived hundreds of miles apart, he offered to fix my truck after it was totaled in a wreck — just because he could help.
He’s always been the first to help others; now it’s our turn to be there for him. Charles is not the type to ask for help, and likely never would, but the reality is that he needs it now.
The funds raised will go directly to Charles to help cover lost wages, repair his damaged truck, and provide a small sense of stability as he recovers emotionally and financially from this traumatic event.
Transparency and How Funds Will Be Used
For transparency, I want to share a bit about myself and how these funds will be used. My name is Charlene Shawl, and I am a friend of Charles from Ga. I have known Charles for several years (pre-Pandemic) and can personally attest to his character and the challenges he now faces.
All funds raised will go directly to Charles to help cover:
Lost wages due to the auto yard being heavily damaged and closed.
Repair costs for his truck, which was damaged while helping others escape the crash site.
Basic living expenses as needed while he searches for new employment and recovers emotionally and financially.
I will ensure that every donation is used exactly as stated, and I will provide updates to donors so they know how their contributions are being spent.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. Please consider sharing this story and helping a man who put others before himself in a moment of crisis.
❤️ Thank you for supporting Charles during this difficult time.
