This past year has been the hardest of my life. I was living in my truck when it was stolen with me still in the back, and I had to jump out just to avoid being taken away with it. After that, I found myself living in a tent cot behind a portable potty, trying to get by day to day. I lost my job, my relationship ended, and I was even hit by a car. I thought things might turn around when I got a job at Amazon, but after just two days, they took me off the schedule and I was back at square one.

On top of everything else, I struggled with alcoholism and had a seizure that sent me to the hospital four times. But I am newly sober now, and I’m doing everything I can to get back on my feet. I’m late on rent and can’t stay where I am much longer. I’m also behind on car insurance and my storage unit payments. On top of that, I’m sinking in credit card debt with high interest and late fees piling up every month. For the past three months, I’ve been eating cans of tuna and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches just to get by. I feel like I’m in a hole and it’s getting harder to climb out.
