Hello, I'm Lisa and I'm starting this GoFundMe for my father-in-law, Charles Lumpkins. He has been waiting to be put on the list for a lung transplant and he received the call today that they will begin the process and start his work-up to get him ready for the transplant. Charles is already in San Diego at the hospital, but if you know about this process, it is a long one and Charles will have to live by the hospital for the next 6 months. Which means he has to find a reasonable apartment. Some insurance covers the costs of an apartment; unfortunately, his does not. We are in a tough position with this and if we are unable to get him close to the hospital, he will not be able to have the transplant. We are asking for help with finances to get Charles a small studio that's furnished and to pay the move-in and rent for the 6 months. Charles also has to continue to pay for his home while he is out in San Diego.

So we as a family have decided to come on here and ask for help for Charles. This has been a long road for us as a family, emotionally draining watching his health deteriorate as we waited for word if he was eligible.
