Support Charles Eye Surgery Journey
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Moses Chikota and I am fundraising on behalf of my brother-in-law Mr Charles Sampa in Zambia, Africa to help him have eye surgery.
Charles played an amazing role model and support system when we were growing up. As a young husband ( late 20’s) , Charles was very kind enough to take us in and did not hesitate to welcome myself and other siblings into his home as my parents had just retired to the village. Despite the pressure and the burden this brought on him, Charles was always there to support us financially and put a roof over our heads. He never showed the slightest strain and always had a smile on his face. His generosity meant that we carried on education in the city uninterrupted and for a number of years he continued to always help those around him.
In the recent years, Charles has had various health problems including with his eye which has brought his life to a complete standstill.
About two years ago, he started having problems with his eyes, initially it was one eye then both. His vision has since deteriorated. He managed to go and get checked at the government hospital and was advised that he had cataract of the eye and would require surgery to remove it. He got prescribed some medicine while he waited to be called for an operation, but this has not helped at all.
Unfortunately, his vision has abruptly gotten worse over the past few months as he continued to wait to be called for an operation at the government hospital. After inquiring further,
he was informed that the equipment is no longer operational and cannot have the surgery any time soon.
This is a blow and a sad development because Charles sight is getting worse and currently cannot see in both eyes and requires a guide to walk around. If not operated on urgently this could potentially lead to complete loss of sight and the doctors recommend that he has an eye operation asap.
Charles is currently unemployed. He lost his job due to loss of sight to both eyes, which means he has no income to support himself, pay for food, accommodation most importantly cost for the surgery. He’s been cared for by family members.
Therefore, to prevent this we have sought help from the private hospital who are willing to operate as soon as possible. He was taken for eye examinations and the Clinical Office provided him with a report which gives details of his condition and the surgery he needs.
The cost of the surgery and other related costs is K27200 Zambian Kwacha however given that this GoFundMe is set up in UK the amount has to be in GBP and the GBP equivalent is £800
Friends, we know how important our eyesight is, and we cannot imagine life without it. Blindness is a very heartbreaking condition and if we can help Charles to restore his eyesight it would be a tremendous blessing for him.
Will you please join hands with us to help Charles? I am pleading for assistance with a donation of any amount, no matter how small it is. No donation is too small, even $1, K1 , £1 helps and it would be greatly appreciated. Together we can make a difference in Charles life.
We thank you so very much in advance for your support.
