It is with a heavy heart that Im asking a community, where most don’t know me, to help my family. My daughter and her husband has suffered a terrible loss concerning their business. Friday the 20th there was a fire and they lost the majority of their Florida Woodsmith business. My heart is broken for them. My daughter Dominique, her husband Charles and their two sons, Eli and Tristan live a simple life. Their desire for starting their business was not to become well off but to live a rich life in the sense of doing something they love; providing affordable lumber and wood pieces for aspiring artist and DIY enthusiasts while supporting their family of four. Their smaller mill, the kiln and bobcat are the only things they have left. All of Charles’ woodsmithing and milling tools were destroyed in the fire. Believing in the power of prayers and knowing how resilient they are, I have no doubt they will find some stability and eventually even rebuild their business. However, I am still a mom who is concerned about their immediate needs. They lost all their sellable inventory that brings daily income for their company and personal bills. So I’m asking for donations to help sustain them and ease the stress of the everyday cost of living. I’m also reaching out to any fellow Woodsmiths that may be near them in Gainesville, Florida to search their inventory for any equipment they may be willing to donate, so they can continue working the remaining mill and sell what they can, while they taking on the daunting task of cleaning the debris and starting over. Any amount that you can offer would be greatly appreciated. The money donated will go to help feed people that have graciously offered their time for 2 scheduled weekends for site cleanup, the monthly kiln and insurance payment and more importantly their household bills for about 3 months. I have a general idea of the amount needed, and I have broken down the amount for each category which comes to about 7,700.00. What’s needed:
-Kiln lease, electric to power kiln and insurance $3900
-Personal bills $3200
-Food for 4 clean up days for 45 people $600
If you can donate equipment for the business please contact Charles Overstreet at [email redacted]
Please keep Dominique and Charles Overstreet in your thoughts and prayers Thank you and God bless.
