Our dear friend Charles Carroll has always been the kind of person who shows up for others—no matter what he's facing himself. He’s the first to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or go out of his way to help someone in need. Now, it’s our turn to be there for him.
Charles was first diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on December 18, 2020. During that difficult time, we came together and raised over $6,000 to support him while he underwent treatment—easing the burden so he wouldn’t have to worry about working while fighting cancer.
Not long after, Charles faced another major health scare: a heart attack. But in true Charles fashion, he bounced back with determination and grace, never losing his spirit.
Now, Charles is facing his toughest challenge yet. After experiencing severe symptoms and undergoing multiple biopsies, he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of esophageal cancer.
The current treatment plan involves two months of chemotherapy, delivered through a chemo pump over two-day cycles every two weeks. If the chemo is successful, the next step will be a complex surgery to remove a portion of his lower esophagus and reconnect it to his stomach. This surgery comes with significant risks and a potential hospital stay of up to a month. If the chemo isn’t effective and he continues to struggle with eating, radiation will be considered as an alternative to surgery.
On top of everything, Charles is dealing with a painful stomach ulcer. If his pain medications and ulcer treatments don’t allow him to get the nutrition he needs, a feeding tube may need to be placed in his small intestine. It's critical that he stops losing weight and begins receiving proper nourishment as soon as possible.
Charles has always gone above and beyond for the people around him. Whether it’s friends, family, coworkers, or even strangers—he’s the kind of person who gives his all without expecting anything in return. Now, he needs our help.
