My name is Charlene, and I’m currently working as a Range Technician for the Silver City District on the Gila National Forest. I’m also pursuing a Master of Natural Resources Stewardship (M.N.R.S) in Rangeland Management and Ecology at Colorado State University (fully online). My goal is to graduate in Spring 2026 and use my education to eventually become a rangeland specialist, helping to protect and manage our public lands for future generations.

Earlier this year, I faced a lot of uncertainty with my job as a federal employee. After being fired due to my probationary status and then reinstated following a court ruling, I was greatly relieved to return to work. However, I recently learned that the partial tuition assistance from my employer that I relied on for my studies will not be available for the Fall 2025 semester. This news came just weeks before classes begin, leaving me with an unexpected financial gap I hadn’t prepared for. Without this support, I risk falling behind in my program and delaying my graduation.

I’m asking for help to cover my tuition for this semester so I can stay on track with my studies. I’m committed to paying for my books, fees, and supplies out of pocket. My passion for rangeland management drives me every day, and I want to use my education and experience to ensure our national forests are preserved and enjoyed by generations to come.
