On January 14th, after returning from a trip to help settle her dad's affairs, my sister, Charity, came home to find her daughter very ill. Angel had been vomiting all day uncontrollably. Charity took Angel to the hospital. After running multiple tests and doing a catscan it was discovered that Angel has a rare but severe condition called superior mesenteric artery syndrome. Basically, what this condition has done is block Angels intestines from being able to pass food. She has spent the last week in the hospital, but will require continuing care. She will have a feeding tube for at least a couple of months. The treatment is expensive and the cost rises above what my sisters insurance will cover. It will be at least $1000 a month (as well as the unknown amount from being in the hospital for over a week). She has insurance that she pays for as a self-employed person, but it is not a great plan. Any amount of help would be very much appreciated and of course your prayers are coveted.
