Hey guys.... Charis here, with some exciting news to share with you following my high school graduation.
With a passion for animation and the love for the film industry, I have been accepted into Laguna College of Art + Designs 4 year Bachelor of Arts Program: BFA. with the dream of not only working for Disney DreamWorks & Pixar, but to one day open up my own studio.
To say that I'm excited is an understatement, & I have the opportunity of being led by Professor Eric Wells & Brad Kuha, who , with over 30 years of animation experience, have had their work featured in many projects for Disney DreamWorks & Warner Brothers, such as The Lion King, The Prince of Egypt, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Meet the Robinsons, Bolt, The Princess and the Frog, Rescuers Down Under, Pocahontas Hunchback of Norte Dame, and many others, just to name a few.
In those 4 years I will be able to .......
- Create convincing, feature-quality animation of original characters that allows personality and emotion to dictate unique acting choices, expressions & movement.
- Pitch stories clearly and succinctly, showing an understanding of ostructure and character and the ability to elevate the material by incorporating group critique.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills necessary for collaboration in group productions.
- Demonstrate competence in filmmaking disciplines such as directing, screenwriting, editing, sound design & cinematography.
Here is a breakdown of what it will cost to attend LCAD each year:
Full-Time Off Campus:
* Tuition:$39,376
*Room & Board: $22,752
*Books & Supplies: $2,324
* Transportation: $1,989
*Other Educational Costs/Misc: $5,067
Total: $71,508

With my acceptance in the fall, here is what has been raised:
* LCAD's Merit Scholarships: $40,000.00 ( $10,000 each year)
* FASFA & Cal Grants : $15,000 in grant money.
Total: $ 25,000 - Pending other grant money
