As many of you know, my sweet boy and adventure buddy Chapo, has developed a mass and extensive swelling and hemorrhage in his neck and thyroid area. If you know me and Chapo, you know we are attached at the hip and he’s like a son to me. This dude has helped me through the lowest of lows just unconditionally loving me and giving me a sense of responsibility. I would do anything to keep him healthy and alive especially at the young age of 9. He’s loved by everyone and one of the sweetest, cuddly, cool dogs you’ll ever meet. He’s been with me through a number of life changes since I rescued him 8 years ago and his by far my best “friend”. Over the last week he’s been seen my a number of doctors and specialists and has had x rays, medication and CT Scans. The findings are thyroid soft tissue neoplasia. The mass has ruptured causing extreme bruising and swelling in the area causing him difficulty of breathing, pain, and possible spread of cancer. He’s undergoing surgery which is extremely costly at about $7k, + the already $4k spent on the various tests, scans, and evaluations prior to surgery. The costs could be even higher after for chemo or post op procedures. It is extremely difficult to afford this during the holiday season. Any and everything helps to get our boy back healthy and back to doing his favorite things, adventuring and eating. Even if it’s just a prayer and you can’t afford a surgery donation, we truly appreciate the outreach and support from family and friends.
