I am writing to share with you the remarkable journey of my daughter, Natalia, who at the young age of 8 has faced more challenges than most of us can imagine. And ask for your help to change her life! Natalia was born with a myriad of medical conditions, including spina bifida, hydrocephalus, and neurogenic bowel and bladder issues, among others. Since her birth, she has undergone an astonishing nine surgeries, each one a testament to her strength and resilience. Despite the odds stacked against her, Natalia has defied expectations at every turn. At the age of 5, after moving to this wonderful community, she took her first steps without the assistance of her walker, a milestone that left us and her doctors in awe. Her determination knows no bounds, and her spirit shines bright even in the face of adversity. However, Natalia's journey is far from over. We have recently been referred to a therapist who specializes in spinal stimulation, a treatment that could potentially grant Natalia the ability to control her bowels and bladder independently. This breakthrough could be life-changing for her, offering her a level of freedom and independence she has never known. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the cost of this therapy, and the associated travel and medical expenses are substantial. Additionally, we dream of providing Natalia her own fully trained service animal. As Natalia's parent, I am determined to give her every opportunity to thrive and succeed.
