Help change a life! - Sarah Knight

Hey! Sarah Knight is one of my best friends and needs some help... Sarah was born with a rare dental condition called amelogenesis imperfecta. Amelogenesis imperfecta is rare and complex, but it is essentially when your teeth do not have the enamel layer protecting them. This causes the individual's teeth to form incorrectly, and since the teeth do not have this natural protective layer, anyone suffering from amelogenesis imperfecta has brittle teeth that crumble and break down quickly. This is a painful dental condition, and correcting it requires extensive and expensive dental work.

Sarah has had some dental work done, but only procedures that helped "band-aid" her condition in the short term. Currently, Sarah is in constant tooth pain, struggles to eat, and experiences insecurities about the condition of her teeth. The work that was previously done to help alleviate some of the pain is no longer working, and more extensive interventions are now required for Sarah to have a normal and painless experience.

Sarah is working with a dentist who has a plan to truly intervene and correct her current condition. The current plan is to remove all of the past dental work due to its degrading and potentially leading to infection. Due to the lack of enamel, they will have to remove several teeth that are breaking down and not strong enough to remain in Sarah's mouth. Then, she will require several implants, bone graphs, and dental bridges to fix her condition and alleviate Sarah's daily pain.

The dentist she works with has quoted her $80,000 for all of this work. Insurance is covering $1,000. The dentist she works with often allows for payment plans but requires payment to be completed within six months of service. Due to the high cost of Sarah's work, her dentist is exceptionally generous with a payment plan, which gives her more time to pay off this massive bill. Part of the deal is for Sarah to make a down payment, covering "lab fees" at the time of service. Sarah has been saving, picking up extra shifts, and asking family/friends to help reach her goal of $7,000 before she can schedule the surgery!
