In 2018 my sister Chaneta was diagnosed with cancer. She is known to some of you as Juliet, which is her artist name and the name that she feels represents her true essence. She has been diagnosed with four types of cancer: CLL Leukemia, Hodgkin's lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She most recently underwent brain surgery on February 26, 2021 to remove tumors on the left side of her brain. Tumors on the right side of her brain remain, and doctors hope to treat it successfully with radiation, as performing another surgery on her brain is simply too dangerous. The recommended treatment is continued radiation therapy after recovering from the brain surgery. Once she leaves the hospital and is well enough, she will be relocating to a home environment that is more conducive to her healing process as she continues to fight cancer.
Cancer impacts all aspects of a patients life emotional, physical, spiritual, and financial. Chaneta has expressed her overwhelming gratitude for the emotional support, prayers, well wishes, gifts, and acts of service. All of those things help her continue the fight and align with her message that 'Cancer Doesn't Have to Be Ugly'.
But the reality right now is this is the 'ugly part' of cancer. The ugly part is not looking different after undergoing chemo, or having massive scars from surgery, or vomiting and being sick and not able to eat, etc. The ugly part is worrying about financial matters that you will face from medical expenses, to covering what disability is not able to cover, and relocating to a different home environment that is better suited to fit your needs as a person fighting four types of cancer.
My sister does not like to ask for help and works to be a support system for her for cancer patients. Your generous donation will undoubtedly help Chaneta continue to receive the necessary medical treatments, get healthy healing foods, and help her gain access to resources that will help her continue to fight cancer AND WIN!!!!
