Help Chanel get to her brain shunt surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Chanel. I am 33 years old. For the past 5 years I struggled with migraines without reason or understanding. Then 3 years in, I started getting seizures. At the 4 year mark we finally got a diagnosis after a Brain Aneurysm and stroke symptoms. I suffer from Intercranial Hypertension and Encephalitis. Meaning I produce too much brain fluid and my brain swells. When this happens and there is too much pressure, you lose many critical functions. Vision, speech, motor functions, cognitive functions, memory and more. Recently I lost the ability to use my arms and legs, I lose control of my bladder, I seize often, my vision goes in and out and I get confused. I cannot drive, cook for myself, go for a walk alone, or leave my house alone. I need help getting to doctor appointments. And although I work from home, it has gotten to the point where I can no longer do that reliably either. Even breathing has become labored. Why am I asking for help? I need a surgery to implant a shunt in my brain to divert the fluid from my brain to my stomach where it can digest safely. This way there is no more increased pressure. Then I can function relatively normal like any other person! I have been on the wait list for surgery for many months. I have been told that I am now on the short list. Surgery is in 3 months or less. But I have to save my short term disability from work for my recovery time. So I need your help to get me to surgery. Your donations will cover the cost of my health insurance, household expenses, transportation to doctors, food, and peace of mind so I can rest and safely get to surgery. I need this surgery to save my life. Without it, I will not survive. Thank you for your contribution.
