Help Chandler Conquer Synovial Sarcoma
Donation protected
Chandler has had quite a year, let me tell ya.
In February of 2020, Chandler was rear-ended on the freeway while heading to work. The accident caused injuries to her back and as a result, her doctors ordered imaging of her spinal cord. The imaging showed an unknown growth in her chest, which was originally misdiagnosed as a pericardial cyst.
A few months later, Chandler began experiencing severe chest pains. Following a night in the emergency room in August of 2020, Chandler was then seen by a cardiologist who pushed for additional testing and confirmed that the growth was not on her heart, it was actually stemming from her right lung. Chandler was then transferred to the thoracic surgery department and due to delays caused by COVID-19 and limited availability in hospitals, her thoracotomy surgery was not scheduled until January 11, 2021.
On January 11, 2021, Chandler went in for surgery. Unfortunately, she experienced severe complications with internal bleeding, stopping the surgery in its tracks. Chandler remained in the ICU for two days and continued to hemorrhage. Once her doctors realized how much blood she was still coughing up, they scheduled an emergency surgery on January 13, 2021.
On January 13, 2021, the surgeons removed a vascular tumor the size of an orange and both of her lower and middle right lobes, leaving only the upper lobe of her right lung behind as this was the only part of her right lung that was not affected. Following this procedure, we all believed that the worst was behind her.
Unfortunately, on January 29, 2021, Chandler was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as Synovial Sarcoma. Since then, she has been working with an oncology team to prepare a treatment plan which will include chemotherapy (and possibly proton therapy radiation at a later date). As Chandler’s chemotherapy start date is set for March 22, 2021, she has been getting everything else in order. Given her chemotherapy regimen (6 treatments of AIM chemotherapy), there is a chance that Chandler will become infertile. Therefore, Chandler has been undergoing the egg freezing process and sadly, insurance does not cover this procedure. Additionally, with each chemo cycle, Chandler will have to spend at least 5 days in the hospital.
With the chemo treatments, hospital stays, precautionary measures, and lifelong follow up treatments, this fund will be used to help cover Chandler’s medical costs. Your donation will not only provide comfort to her during this time but also help take a lot of weight off of her shoulders for years to come.
As Chandler continues this harrowing journey, your support means everything to her! Because of COVID-19, she has to complete all her treatments and hospital stays alone with no visitors, not even family. What a tough time to be going through this! Please give Chandler all your love and prayers during this chapter of her life. Thank you for your time and generosity, Chandler appreciates all of you more than you’ll ever know!
Love,
Ali (Chandler's future sister-in-law)
