Please help me finish my MFA at Pratt Institute!
My name is Chance Allen, and I'm currently in the last year of my Photography graduate program at Pratt Institute.
I have always been drawn to photography as an intentional act - one that preserves time, space, and memory in a world that at times can push us to forget.
Following the passing of my god-father in my youth, I made a commitment to myself to hold my life and the lives of those who are close to my heart. In dedicating myself to a practice that remembers, and reimagines, I have found myself on a path that has brought me to the amazing program at Pratt, here in Brooklyn.
Without warning, I just learned that federal funding that I received last school year was unexpectedly not extended for this school year.
This means that I am suddenly facing a tuition bill of almost $25K.
In recognition of my work I have received PRATT’s Robert Mapplethorpe Scholarship in Photography, but without the federally funded loan, the remaining balance I now face totals $14,000 to complete my program in May of 2027.
I have worked hard to fund my studies, working a full-time job throughout the summer and the ongoing semester to make ends meet, and received generous help from family and friends.
Today I ask for your support in covering the remaining costs that currently stand between me and my Masters Degree, in a medium that is truly innate to me and my being.I'm incredibly grateful to my professors, faculty, and my entire Pratt family, all of whom have helped me cultivate my perspective as a photographer, and as an artist. I thank my family and friends who have supported me throughout my whole time in New York as well.
If you're able to donate even $1, $5, $10, it would mean the world. Every dollar goes directly toward my remaining tuition. And - please reshare this fundraiser with your circles.
Thank you so so much!
