Champ Klein, Captain of Salty Tails Charter of Cajun & Cracker Outdoors Inc., doesn’t meet a stranger. If you have ever spent any time around him, you know he is always first there to help family, friends, and even a stranger. As a Christian and a devoted family man, he works hard to provide for his family. Over the years, Champ has learned that things can change in an instant from some health issues he has had in the past. This well-learned hardship has once again presented itself in the Klein family.
On January 11, 2022, Champ fell sick with stomach issues that lasted several days. By the 14th, it had only gotten worse, so he went to North Florida Regional Hospital to be examined. After several tests, Champ was diagnosed with Bowel Obstruction and was immediately admitted to the hospital. The next morning, further tests determined that his intestines were collapsing, and he was rushed into emergency surgery. He stayed in the hospital for a week and was discharged on the 22nd. On the 24th, Champ started having stomach cramps, and medication was not helping, so they spoke with the doctor and were able to get some relief for the pain. On the 26th, he became septic and was admitted back into North Florida Regional. Since that admission, Champ has had four surgeries, the wound has not been closed, and the different treatments have only caused them to try other therapies in search of one that will work. Currently, he has a wound manager applied, and it seems to be the best option. Champ is expected to be in the hospital for another four weeks, and then he will start rehabilitation.
The hospital is 95 miles from the Klein home, and his wife Tammy has to drive that several times a week. Tammy is self-employed as well, and because she has to spend so much time on the road and at the hospital, she is unable to work at this time. With Champ and Tammy both unable to work during Champ’s illness, you can only imagine the financial hardship they are facing.
Friends have set up this GoFundMe campaign to help the Klein family financially for expenses incurred and to help with finances until one or both can start bringing in an income again. The Klein family needs your help and prayers to heal Champ and keep them stable during this health and financial hardship.
