Hello everyone,

My name is Chaliyah Basemore, and I’m a student in the culinary program. I joined Job Corps back in August of 2024 with so much hope and determination, working hard every day to earn my certifications and build a better future for myself.

But now, everything I’ve been working toward feels like it’s slipping away. Job Corps is being shut down — and just like that, I’ve been given until June 17 to find somewhere to go, somewhere to live.

Since I received the news, I’ve been overwhelmed, trying to stay strong and figure out what comes next. I’m doing everything I can to keep moving forward, but the truth is, it’s been really hard. This place gave me structure, support, and a chance — and now it’s all coming to an end far too soon.
