Hello, I’m Chalia Huff, a 26-year-old mother of one living with my fiancé. This month has started out quite rough for us. We bought a car and paid a man who claimed to be a mechanic to repair it, only for him to tell us that the repairs he made made no difference and he couldn’t actually fix what was wrong. That repair was $500. After this, we decided to call the real auto repair place in town and have the car towed and repaired. The repairs were made and the car is ready for pick up, but since then we’ve suffered two major financial blows.

On Friday the 13th of March, I fell off of my electric bike trying to get to the bank. The fall resulted in me breaking both my radius and ulnar bones in my arm and fracturing my scaphoid bone in my wrist. During the time of my fall, I had no insurance and I’ve had to come out of pocket for my splint and sling costs, transportation to and from the doctor's offices and hospital, and overall having to overpay some not-so-good friends for help.

After all that, we thought that since my fiancé was working, we would be able to get the car out next week, but his job wasn’t understanding about the time he had to take off to take care of me after my surgery. They even denied his paid time off he’s been owed since October because they held him up to request his required paid time off and forgot to actually put it in the system when the time came.

Now, without proper income and no transportation, we’re at a standstill. I will need to go to check-ups in the next upcoming days and weeks and start attending physical therapy. My daughter also has many appointments and therapies she needs to attend outside of school.

We are asking for just a little help getting our car out of the shop at this time. Without transportation, we are spending more for Ubers, asking for rides, and door dashing food and groceries. This would also open the opportunity of working for delivery services ourselves since we are currently unemployed. Thank you so much if you’ve read this far and our family would appreciate anything you can offer. Even a share could help us out.
