This is our sweet baby boy, Chainsaw. he may be small, but he's the toughest guy on the block... unless you're mom or "the spare", in which case he's a huge cuddle bug. When he's not chasing squirrels or hanging out with his best friend (who happens to be a cat), you can find him curled up in bed and watching reality TV (he lives for the drama).
A few weeks ago, we noticed something wasn't right and rushed him to the vet. After several visits, tests, and scans, we finally got a diagnosis: Chainsaw has hyperparathyroidism. This means that his body is producing dangerously high levels of calcium, which has resulted in many bladder stones - one of which has made its way into his urethra and has put him at risk of a urinary blockage.
Unfortunately, there is no way to dissolve or make the bladder stones go away on their own, so Chainsaw will need to have two surgeries:
- One to remove the overactive parathyroid gland
- Another to remove the bladder stones
He'll also need to stay in the hospital for a couple days so that they can monitor his calcium levels.
We're beyond grateful that the vet caught this in time, but we weren't prepared for the cost of two surgeries. Chainsaw means the world to us and we need help covering part of the cost so that he can get back to doing what he loves most: chasing squirrels and snuggling up for his daily dose of reality TV.
Anything helps, whether it's a donation or just sharing this with others. We're so grateful for any support you can give to help our sweet boy get the care he needs.
Love,
Courtney & Stevie
(aka, mom and "the spare")
