We never want to take things out of our shop because of the fear of someone breaking in. Our shop holds a lot of memories and memorabilia’s. This isn’t just a barbershop/salon this is a place of community; where generations of families have been coming here for years getting their haircut(s) or color. It’s a safe space where people feel comfortable to tell us their “firsts”. “I bought my first house. I’m pregnant for the first time. I’m traveling the world by myself. I’ve been diagnosed with cancer. I gave my life to Christ.” Many first’s happen in our chairs. It’s why this place is so special to us and even more to Chad. We have kids that come in the shop and enjoy all the things that we have. And some on the spectrum that the first thing they do when they walk in, is go straight to our guitar collection and drums. The smile on their faces, that’s the peace and comfort they feel when they’re in our shop. Every single one of you makes our space so special. We never thought the silent intrusion, a shadowed guest who slipped through the cracks and broke every single one of our glass windows and doors would bring fear into a place we trusted. Chad has been in this shop for 35 years and never once has he been violated in such a way. And in the past 4 weeks we’ve been broken into three times. We never wanted to be a shop that had to resort to security bars over our doors. But being violated 3 times in less than 2 months gives us no choice. I tried hard to figure out a way to end this but I will end this with a piece of art work that a kid brought us today when he found out our gum ball machine was stolen.
Sincerely, the staff of Chads Hair Store.
Xx
