Help Chad Save His Teeth

I'm Chad, and, like so many Americans, I had to forego any dental work for years because I didn't have dental insurance. 2025 was a rough year where I was without work for several months, lost my second job as a study guide writer, and had a major unexpected car-related expense, but it ended with me getting a good full-time job as a librarian/archivist that finally allows me to afford dental insurance.

So why are we here?

Well, I went without dental work for so long I've got issues with my teeth and my gums. To help prevent the loss of teeth and even a potential life-threatening infection, I will need a root canal, laser gum treatments, and a tooth extraction and replacement. Even with my insurance, it's going to cost over $1,600 in the end (fun fact: did you know that insurance will only pay for certain procedures once a lifetime? I didn't...until recently!).

My dentist's office has been good with working with me over payments so far, but I'm still reeling from last year and losing my part-time gig has dented my checking account. So I'm going to put myself out there, rattle the can, and ask for $2,500. Specifically:

  • $1,700 to cover the dental work itself
  • $800 to recoup the dental expenses I've already had from exploratory procedures and just help me get by at least until I get a new part-time job and/or I get a raise at my full-time

Any help, either by giving or sharing, will be truly appreciated.
