My name is Jennifer Gilomen, and I am raising money for my husband's first cousin, Chad Dybdahl, who is fighting stage 4 colon cancer. Chad is the epitome of a family man deeply committed to his wife and two children. Throughout the years they have shared countless family trips to National Parks, Disney, and visits with extended family. Chad has also built a second family with his athletes, students. and colleagues. For over twenty years as a Certified Athletic Trainer at Greater Atlanta Christian School (GACS), Chad has consistently demonstrated Christian love in everything he does.
- In June of 2024, Chad was diagnosed with Metastatic Colon Cancer while both of his children were in college. Since then he has undergone two major surgeries and many chemo regimens with too many side effects to list. Sadly his cancer has recently progressed. He is now beginning third-line chemotherapy in hopes of slowing the rapid progression of his quadruple-negative colon cancer.
- The family is now faced with significant financial challenges as they pursue every possible avenue of treatment, including second opinions and potential clinical trials outside their home state of Georgia. Chad hopes to be a candidate for Car-T or Car-NK clinical trials which would provide another treatment option.
- The immediate financial needs include:
- A $6,000 deductible beginning September 1, 2026.
- September travel for Chad and his daughter to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and MD Anderson in Houston.
- Associated travel expenses of $2300 for flights, $1090 for hotels, and $625 for parking/meals/uber, etc.
- $550 each month for supplements and supportive therapies that are part of Chad's overall care.
- $54,000 for three weeks treatment at Hope4Cancer for integrative oncology care.
- Unknown anticipated loss of income during treatment.
- Through all of this, Chad has maintained an incredibly positive attitude as he continues to work full-time. He is motivated and encouraged by hope, by his devoted family, by his friends, and by his second family at GACS. He continues to be an inspiration to everyone around him.
- I am asking friends, extended family, and Chad's community to come alongside him and his family as they navigate this difficult journey. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease their financial burden and allow the family to focus on giving Chad every chance to fight Metastatic Colon Cancer.
