Update 09/27/2024:
My little brother received his angel wings tonight :*(
Update 09/24/2024:
Chad has decided to not pursue the other form of treatment and has chosen to be kept comfortable.
After being given the details of the other treatment that we could try, it had a lesser chance of positive response and even if there was, the quality of life was likely to be too rough.
He could cross over any day now.
I don't know what else lies ahead but it's gonna hurt without him...
Update 09/06/2024:
Hello, everyone. My apologies for not providing more updates; it's been rough these past few weeks I'm afraid.
Chad has been hospitalized twice now for an infection. In fact, as I type this, we are still waiting for him to be discharged.
It was during the first hospitalization that we learned the immunotherapy was not working. :*( We're gearing up to begin a different kind of treatment, but these infections really took a heavy toll on his body & mind and he has to be well enough to start the new treatment.
But yeah... This was very devastating. With each bloodwork he gave during the immunotherapy, the numbers seemed to indicate that we were heading in the right direction, but yeah... =(
Chad also has to stay with my parents at their house for a while. I strongly feel that we could've caught onto the infection sooner if he wasn't living by himself... But yeah. I know it will be hard to adjust to living with our parents again, but their place is also closest to his team of doctors.
Okay, that's all I have in me at the moment :(
But I still want to thank everyone here who have been so generous in helping my little brother financially. Every bit of help, in any form that it comes, keeps us afloat.
Thank you, will all my heart, thank you <3
Update 07/31/2024:
Hello everyone! My apologies for not posting updates in here; I've been posting them on my Facebook page.
Chad has had two treatment sessions so far. His latest bloodwork shows signs of improvement but also areas that are still of concern. His physical and abilities have changed so drastically these past couple of months...it's been so hard to watch.
He has two more treatment sessions this August after which they will conduct another full physical evaluation to see how well the response was to the immunotherapy and they will adjust his continuing treatment accordingly.
On the financial front, his pursuit of the State's paid leave has been problematic. There was a problem with the paperwork submitted that he's been trying to get resolved and he learned recently that the recent CrowdStrike debacle might've affected their systems. So we have no idea when his application will finally be processed while in the meantime, he continues to go without pay since early June.
Everyone's donations here as well as donations made directly to him have been sustaining him during this time and we cannot begin to thank everyone enough for their support and generosity! <3
Please do continue to pray for extremely good treatment results at the end of August and also for speedy resolution for his State FMLA. I will be sure to keep you posted here, but also on my Facebook page.
Thank God for you all and thank you all so very very very much! <3 <3 <3
**Update: My brother was just informed that the FMLA leave through his job is UNPAID. He'll now be looking into applying for the State leave, but not sure how long process that takes.
Hello, Everyone!
My name is Chastity - Chaz for short. I'm asking for help for my younger, only brother, Chad.
He was diagnosed with stage 4 Renal cancer the day after Memorial Day this year after experiencing some mysterious and debilitating symptoms since December of 2023.
My brother has been bravely battling/managing other health struggles for many years now and despite all the work he has done on himself to turn things around, he gets hit with something that proper diet and exercise cannot prevent.
He's not married, no kids, no romantic relationships, so he gives his all to his family (me included) and his dear friends and he has tirelessly been serving our God through all his work at Filipino-American Christian Fellowship(FACF).
He has begun his cancer treatment through Swedish and is currently on FMLA since early June but it would seem that there may be some heavy financial complications right off the bat:
We're not sure if there is some kind of mix up or if his type of work does not afford much FMLA pay at all. His latest paycheck received was not even $5.
I'm not also sure what that means for his medical insurance which is still pending approval for his cancer treatment. (I'll provide an update about this as soon as we receive word.)
His leave is slated to be about two more months, but he will struggle financially on top of his health at this rate, so I'm hoping and praying we might be able to get him some help here.
Any help would be more greatly appreciated
