Hi, I am Staci, Chad Mortimer's ex-wife. On October 28th, Chad was found very ill and taken to the hospital in Hillsboro, where he was severely septic and med-flighted to Gundersen, La Crosse. After many labs and tests, it was found that he has Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Not only was he fighting the septic infection, but the leukemia was also running rampant, and he was sent home on 11/1. He was sent home, only to return 2 days later with a new infection, E-Coli. Many IV medications were given, and he was sent home again on 11/9. On Friday, 11/11, a Picc Line was put in to deliver upcoming chemotherapy; however on 11/16, he was taken via ambulance back to La Crosse for a blood clot in his PICC Line. He has been inpatient ever since. Chemotherapy began on Monday, 11/21, 24 hours a day for seven days of very intense chemo and the next 3 weeks will be spent trying to manage the side effect of the chemo before he can be tested again to see if he is in remission. He will be in the hospital for the next 1 to 2 months. Once they get the leukemia in remission, he will need a stem cell transplant, with an additional hospital stay.
At this time, money is needed to keep up with household bills, property taxes, build a ramp for him to get in the house, any unforeseen needs and the mountain of medical bills that will coming shortly in the mail.
Please help if you can or share. Keep Chad, Austin, Abbigayle, Conner, our grandson Jace and Chad's family in your thoughts and prayers during this challenging time and hug your loved ones a little tighter this holiday season.
