Help Cesar's Family After Violent Attack @ Immigration Court

After exiting an immigration hearing at the federal building in downtown Denver on Tuesday, June 17, Cesar & his wife and their 8-year child were violently detained by several men and one woman.

The abductors were in plainclothes, never identified themselves & some had their faces masked. Cesar was waiting for his family outside of the women’s bathroom when he was violently pushed into the restroom. He and his wife were pushed against the wall and thrown down on the floor and banged against the sink as their child watched. Both mother and child were screaming throughout the abduction and as Cesar was handcuffed and taken away down a locked stairwell.

They had attended the hearing because they wanted to do what was required by DHS. In the hearing that morning their asylum case was denied by the judge; they requested & were granted time to appeal. They were following all the rules. Regardless, they became casualties of the Trump administration’s deportation machine.

Cesar worked as a skilled laborer in fiberglass in Ecuador. They lived on the border with Peru. He & his wife met as teenagers and have been together 15 years.

They left Ecuador in April 2024 because of increasing violence, arrived in the US in May 2024 after a harrowing overland journey, and have been building a life for their young son, hopeful to finally be free of the violence.

Cesar is a responsible family man. They enjoy spending time together-riding bikes, going to the park/the mall, watching movies. He cooks and helps around the house. He likes working on cars. He also supports his elderly parents; his mother is disabled.

Cesar & his family are all deeply traumatized by what happened in the courthouse. Their son saw the entire incident. Both Cesar’s wife and son are inconsolable after what they have faced; they continue to work weekly with a therapist to address the trauma.

Cesar has now been detained at the GEO Detention Center in Aurora for over two months. An initial fundraising campaign brought in $13,000 in donations that have helped Cesar's family cover Cesar's legal expenses & their living expenses, and to start a bond fund (currently at $4000).

The Colorado Asylum Center is handling Cesar's case. He finally has a bond hearing on August 26. He is the sole supporter of his family and wants to be home with them, heal from this horrific experience and continue pursuing his case with immigration.

Tras salir de una audiencia de inmigración en el edificio federal del centro de Denver el martes 17 de junio, César, su esposa y su hijo de ocho años fueron detenidos violentamente por unos hombres y una mujer.

Los secuestradores vestían de civil, nunca se identificaron y algunos llevaban mascarillas. César esperaba a su familia fuera del baño de mujeres cuando lo empujaron violentamente hacia el baño. Él y su esposa fueron empujados contra la pared, tirados al suelo y golpeados contra el lavamanos mientras su hijo observaba. Tanto la madre como el niño gritaron durante todo el secuestro, mientras César era esposado y lo llevaron por una escalera cerrada.

Habían asistido a la audiencia porque querían cumplir con los requisitos del DHS. En la audiencia de esa mañana, el juez denegó su solicitud de asilo; solicitaron y se les concedió tiempo para apelar. Estaban siguiendo todas las reglas. A pesar de todo, se convirtieron en víctimas de la maquinaria de deportación de la administración Trump.

César trabajaba como obrero especializado en fibra de vidrio en Ecuador. Vivían en la frontera con Perú. Él y su esposa se conocieron en la adolescencia y llevan 15 años juntos.

Salieron de Ecuador en abril de 2024 debido al aumento de la violencia, despues de un viaje desgarrador llegaron a los Estados Unidos en mayo de 2024, y han estado construyendo una vida para su hijo pequeño, con la esperanza de finalmente liberarse de la violencia.

César es un hombre de familia responsable. Disfrutan pasando tiempo juntos: montando en bicicleta, yendo al parque o al centro comercial, viendo películas. Él cocina y ayuda en la casa. Le gusta trabajar en autos. También apoya a sus padres ancianos. Su madre es discapacitada.

César y su familia están profundamente traumatizados por lo ocurrido en el juzgado. Su hijo presenció todo el incidente. Tanto la esposa como el hijo de César están desconsolados por lo que han vivido y siguen reuniendose cada semana con una terapista para enfrentar la trauma.

César se encuentra actualmente detenido en el Centro de Detención GEO en Aurora por más de 2 meses. Una campaña inicial resultó en $13,000 en donaciones que han ayudado a la familia de Cesar cubrir sus gastos legales y personales y empezar un fondo para la fianza (actualmente cuentan con $4000).

El Centro de Asilo de Colorado se ha encargado del caso de Cesar. Por fin tendrá una audiencia para su fianza el 26 de agosto. Él es el único sostén de su familia y desea estar en casa con ellos, recuperarse de esta terrible experiencia y continuar con su caso en inmigración.
