My name is César, and today I am going through one of the hardest moments of my life. Years ago, I suffered Bell’s Palsy on the right side of my face, but at that time I did not receive the proper treatment. I believed it would never happen again. Unfortunately, after a period of intense stress, Bell’s Palsy has now affected the left side of my face as well, making it very difficult for me to speak and smile.
My life’s work has been radio broadcasting and audio production, serving and informing my community. Many people think radio is well paid, but most of what I do is community work, often supported only by small donations. Many times I personally support the station through income from my cleaning business. Now I am facing something I never expected. Doctors say I need a smile restoration surgery, but my insurance does not cover it because they classify it as cosmetic. For me, it is not cosmetic — it is about being able to speak, communicate, and continue serving my community.
I have never asked for help before, but today I truly need it. Living with paralysis on both sides of my face has been physically and emotionally very difficult. I trust in God and believe that with the support of kind people, I can overcome this moment. Any help, big or small, means more than words can express. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
