Cerissa is a positive, delightful, caring person and never complains or knowingly causes harm to any person or animal. Join us in showing her that the universe rewards her kindnesses by raising money for her upcoming, unexpected, and somewhat scary surgery.
Cerissa has been dealing with eye issues for many years, starting in elementary school. She has had five surgeries over the years. One surgery was to remove her lens which left her aphakic (no lens in eye) for nineteen years. She wore a special made contact that allowed her vision when wearing it but as she wasn't able to leave it in, it left her blind at night. Her last surgery took place in 2013; she set up payments for both the doctor and hospital and was scheduled to finish her last payment in 2 months. The lens that was placed in her eye has shifted. Starting around December of 2017 it would slip out and cause her vision to double and cause a purple aura. She continues to work and maintain her life; sometimes requiring wearing a patch over the eye. Sometimes these symptoms last for minutes, sometimes hours and on April 8th the lens moved and has not gone back in place.
Yesterday after another visit to her doctor the decision was made to schedule another surgery to try to secure the lens. The surgery is scheduled for May 30th. We are trying to raise $3,000 to help pay for upcoming costs.
