Help Celia the Alpaca Heal and Return Home
Donation protected
My name is Mom C. I am starting this GoFundMe for a special lady (the blue-haired farmer) who owns and operates Chaos Farm in Lincoln, RI. She is the most open, warm, and caring person I know, who does so much community work, loves her family dearly, but loves her farm animals just as much. Celia, one of her alpacas, is very sick. And Emily, the blue-haired farmer, finds it difficult to ask for help. So, I'm asking for her. Celia is feeling more like herself and acting like an alpaca - aloof. ⬛ While we wish her GI tract would start up with a vengeance, she was noted to be eating more today. Her WBC and creatinine levels are dropping, and labs look promising. She was also standing more than she had since admission - so hey, that's something!
I realize she looks like she had a date with a vampire - keep in mind she is a snow-white alpaca - you'd see a drop of blood from across the barn on her. I had to laugh. Celia is in the last stall in the large animal barn. In passing her, you see these gorgeous, giant, beautiful horses. Shining coats, their hair is pretty, they are sick too but beautiful. Then ya get down to Celia-Bloody-Bedilias’s stall and she's this little, bedraggled, hot mess, blood-stained alpaca just chillin' at the end. Random as all get out lol. She looks so rough. It would be appropriate if, when passing her, she would be smoking a cigarette, drinking a whiskey, and just say (in a raw voice that sounds like it's seen some ) - “What are you lookin’ at?!” when your eyes land on her. They had just changed her lines and made them something we can care for here at the farm (IV) and that our field vet can seal up when all done. She is washable! The hope is Celia can make it home if not tomorrow but Friday and myself and our field vet can continue abx, fluids, blood draws, and supportive care here for a full recovery. Being alone is stressful for Celia in itself and would mess with her sleep and her GI just itself and the herd here is also anxious. While Celia would be in the heated garage until she is 100% cleared and has her new body coat to wear, she could at least have visits with the herd. And… I could somehow pay this bill in full before my own funeral.
In regards to that - today Tufts added another 3k onto the “worst case scenario” estimate. A few friends have sent aid to us on Venmo - I see you and say thank you Many people have commented that they would like to help - and while I am not very good at accepting help. Stay tuned. ❤️❤️
