Dear friends,

we are writing this on behalf of our very dear friend Celia Green, who is scheduled for top surgery in December of this year (HUGE DEAL)! They have been on the wait list for almost three years (!!!!) This surgery will relieve years of gender dysphoria and improve their daily mental health, confidence, and overall well-being. And make them hotter.

Although the majority of the cost of the surgery is covered by the Ontario healthcare system, the costs of contouring (a necessary part of top surgery), post-surgery related healing expenses, and recovery time are up to the individual.

Celia is going to need significant support during recovery. This is where you come in.

We have set a goal of $7,000 CAD to work towards together. This money will go directly towards Celia’s rent, monthly hydro + phone bills, groceries, transportation, aftercare, bodywork, lost income during recovery, and necessary supplies towards Celia’s healing (compression garments, scar care, and other medicines). This will provide Celia with the resources necessary so they can solely focus on healing instead of stressing about job hunting and making rent during the immediate months post-surgery.

Celia is a choreographer, performer, childcare worker, and arts administrator. The bulk of their work (whether they are dancing or carrying babies) is highly physical. Post surgery they will be physically unable to work for at least 6-8 weeks. Celia does not have access to employment insurance or savings that would carry them through this period, and they do not currently have work lined up for the new year. They are relying on their community to help them out at this time.
