Help Celeste Get Critical Spinal Cord Surgery.
Donation protected
I am Celeste’s daughter Joanna. I’ve never done this before, so I’m not sure exactly what information is needed. I am trying to help raise funds for medical travel. Due to recent medical expenses and unforeseen events, I’m unable to help as much as I would like. At present, she is scheduled for surgery in Rhode Island in September. At this time we cannot afford all of the travel cost related to the extended stay required and will have to cancel unless we can raise the funds. She is scheduled to have two procedures on her spinal cord. The surgeries will take approximately six hours. She has been to a number of specialist, including local surgeons. Due to connective tissue disease, as well as the rarity of one of the conditions, she needs to see this particular surgeon. She has an arachnoid web and tethered spinal cord. Arachnoid webs are extremely rare. There have been less than 60 documented cases. She has a lot of pain every day that affects her sleep and daily life. She also has progressive weakness in her legs and back. This will continue to get worse until she is paralyzed, unless she has the surgeries. The sooner she has the surgeries the more feeling and strength she can recover. The longer she waits the more permanent nerve damage will be. There are no guarantees that she will get back what she lost, but it will definitely stop the progression. It does cause other issues for her that I am not posting publicly.
I want to thank everyone in advance for prayers and thoughts, as well as any assistance you may be comfortable providing. Please share.
