Help Celena Recover From A Brain Tumor Without Insurance

Dear Friends and Family,
My heart breaks writing this. Celena just celebrated her 29th birthday on April 22nd, 2024. She has been known to be such a light and breath of fresh air to those around her, always smiling, laughing, and complimenting them; seeing the good in them. Just a few hours after an amazing night celebrating her birthday; she would find herself in the ER due to some common symptoms of a stroke. However the ER advised us it wasn’t a stroke, but something much worse as we received news that a large brain tumor was suffocating her brain, and by the size of it, has been for years. The shock was overwhelming. There were never any symptoms or prior signs of there ever being one. She needed to get transported immediately to an Intensive Care Unit at another hospital to remove a larger than baseball-sized tumor IMMEDIATELY, and around 11pm that night, she did. What followed next was even more daunting.
Without health insurance, navigating the maze of medical treatments and surgeries became a terrifying reality. After just celebrating her birthday, and recently getting married, we knew every day forward was going to be a battle. Without any sleep and fear of the unknown, the tests began. For hours; bloodwork, MRI’s, cognitive tests; as we patiently waited for 7am to arrive for the surgeon to brief us on how exactly it would go down.
Celena had a brain tumor with a diameter of around 6.2cm. She may not have noticed, but I noticed the fear in every nurse and doctors eyes, how worried they were, how they delivered the news, and it scared the life out of me. Because I knew something was not right..
She had a 50/50 percent chance of living…
“Not Celena, no, she’s too young! We just got married! She’s got such big dreams to help people and lead them closer to God! She’s got dreams of seeing the world” I said in my head.
We did the only thing we could control: pray, and make a call to our loved ones for support.
The support from people from all over the world was overwhelming. Thousands of messages, hundreds of texts, nonstop calls, truly showed how much of an impact Celena had on those around her; as she started cry because she didn’t even know people were so appreciative of her.
By the grace of God, she is now in recovery, but the road to recovery stretches out before her; filled with uncertainty and challenges. There is another mass in by her ear canal which must be closely monitored. Physical therapy, follow-up appointments, medications, and ongoing medical care are all part of the long road ahead.
That’s why I’m reaching out to you today. WE NEED YOUR HELP. After draining all our savings, your generosity can help lighten the load as she continues to go on this journey to reclaiming her health and her life. Every donation, no matter how small, brings her one step closer to a brighter tomorrow. She’s got such big dreams and wants to let everyone know that YOUR story is yours, and wants to use her voice to make the world a better place.
This journey revealed many things; that the power of prayer is real. That God is real, because this surgery was a MIRACLE. Doctors from all over the hospital came to her room to see the person who survived such a risky surgery, saying, “I just had to come see you and see the miracle before us”
Thank you for being a part of our story, for your unwavering support, and for helping us find hope in the midst of adversity. Together, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way.
“But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, ‘Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.’’ And the woman was made well from that hour.”
