Olivia Frazier-Pena, aka "Yum Yum," our colleague, was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica and migrated to the United States at a very young age.
In 2007, she became a 911 operator, then elevated to a radio dispatcher for the New York City Police Department. Olivia was not just another colleague but family to all.
In 2024, she fell ill and was later diagnosed with cancer. She deteriorated rapidly and lost the ability to do things that we often take for granted, which are essential in and out of our daily lives. This left her unable to eat and communicate due to suffering from several strokes.
There was never a dull moment when she was around. She was the friend to always call and make sure you were good no matter what she was going through. Many connected with her through little things such as overtime, socializing over food and drinks, playing Uno, listening to DSVN (R&B music group), banging a cup of ice somewhere, or the unpredictable comments she would make that were sure to have you laughing. Her ray of sunshine could never be denied.
On Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, two days before her 53rd birthday, Olivia went home to meet with the Lord.
We are heartbroken, but we know that she is no longer suffering. She fought a good fight but unfortunately couldn't finish the race. This was not the anticipated ending anyone wanted, but life throws curveballs we don't always hit.
Olivia was an amazing co-worker who was outspoken, honest, and respected. She was loved and adored and will be missed.
We are kindly asking if anyone could find it in their heart to make a donation towards celebrating who she was and give her a home-going celebration. We are seeking to raise at least $4000. Every donation, large or small, will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
