Howdy Disco Citizens!
We are approaching our 500th Episode of Horror Movie Survival Guide & could use your help to celebrate this momentous occasion!
We simply love horror - and 500 episodes is just the beginning!
This podcast has been an independently produced labor of love for us for almost a decade - our hosts Teri Gamble & Julia Marchese and our sound engineer/producer Sierra Rein.
We create this podcast because we adore it, and are not sponsored, we don’t run ads, and any revenue that we bring in from our wonderful Patreon subscribers goes back into web hosting costs.
(Peek behind the scenes and see three very talented, passionate cinephile creators - with not much scratch to spare! Ssshh!)
THE BIG IDEA - We are planning on programming a series of films and taping live podcast episodes at the The Mayfair Theatre in Ottawa, Canada in early November!
The Mayfair has long been a supporter of our show, not only sharing widely on social media, but also honoring us with shout outs on their marquee and a plaque within the cinema itself!
Josh Stafford, the multi-talented Geek in Chief of the theatre, featured us in his incredible zombie comic book Damned Cursed Children. (Check it out!)
If you want to delve more into our connection to the Mayfair, listen to our Horror Movie Survival Guide interview with Josh here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/104713/episodes/8094034-hmsg-interview-josh-stafford-of-the-mayfair-theatre-ginger-snaps
We have never met in real life and we think now is the perfect time to celebrate together! As mentioned above, we have been doing this show for nearly ten years, and we could use a little assistance to make this magic happen!
We could use help covering travel for the event.
What your donation will be going to:
Airfare
Transportation
Hotel Room
Any left over will be used for meals while traveling & incidentals
Thank you to all who have championed our show all these years - we are so overwhelmed with the wonderful support our incredible listeners have given, and also for the stupendous folks we have met doing interviews and meeting other horror fans in real life that listen always give us such a thrill!
❤️ The horror community is truly the kindest community. ❤️
As we charge forward for our next 500 Episodes, we’d really like to take a special moment and share this lovely occasion with meeting listeners live!
About the podcast:
Running since 2017, Horror Movie Survival Guide is a popular podcast breaking down a different horror movie each week and dissecting how you can survive the film.
Beginning with best friends Julia Marchese & Marion Kerr who watched every horror movie in their local VHS store during college, Teri Gamble stepped in after 75 episodes as Julia's new co-host and has been chatting scary flicks with her ever since.
Teri and Julia met on a plane on the way to the UK, where they studied drama together at the University of East Anglia in Norwich and have been ride-or-die best friends ever since.
Sierra Rein is our incredible producer and sound engineer, making sure every episode sounds crisp and delicious! She’s holding it down in NYC and singing her way into all our hearts.
Teri and Julia not only break down films together, but also have done dozens of interviews - Damien Leone, Patton Oswalt, Kenan Thompson, Diane Franklin, Peaches Christ and so many more. Not to mention presenting awards for the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, hosting red carpet interviews and loving every spooky second!
Along the way the podcast has accumulated a vast worldwide listening network. We have released a new episode every Monday since 2017, and enjoy tasting all the different flavors that horror cinema has to offer - from lesbian vampires to forgotten silents, international slashers to modern scares and everything in between.
Sharing is just as good as donating - if times are tight for you right now, just pass this along, pretty please!
And if you’ve never given us a listen - please do! We love meeting fellow horror hounds!
Fantasticgorically yours,
Julia & Teri & Sierra
